Program Details for Young Passengers Traveling Alone (YPTA) (AirAsia Unaccompanied Minors Policy)

Through the YPTA program of AirAsia:

  • Participants in the Young Passengers Traveling Alone (YPTA) program must be between the ages of 12 and 16.
  • Passengers must possess a legitimate photo ID if they fall under the age group of 12 to 18.
  • YPTAs are not allowed to sit near any exits in case of an emergency.
  • Only until a parent or legal guardian has signed the AirAsia YPTA Program Release Form. And completed the Identity Verification Form—both of which can be obtained at the check-in counters. Will a YPTA be permitted to travel?
  • Someone with a legal guardian’s presence at the airport is required until the plane takes off without incident.
  • While AirAsia will handle the formal pre-boarding introduction, the Meet and greet Service can only be arranged upon parental or guardian request.
  • Anyone who meets the requirements of the YPTA Program is not considered an adult. And is hence not allowed to accompany children under the age of twelve.
  • If a child is traveling without the YPTA program and is between the ages of 16 and 18, they will be treated as an adult and will not be granted any special treatment. But they can’t go with a kid younger than twelve.
  • Travelers from Davao, Philippines, who are under the age of 17 and traveling alone. Or with someone other than their parent(s), are required to obtain a Permit to Travel. This document can be obtained from the Davao City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO). Which has a counter in the departure lobby of Davao International Airport.

Exception. For domestic flights inside Japan, Thailand, and India on AirAsia. Parents or guardians are not needed to sign the YPTA Program Release Form unless the YPTAs are going on a domestic trip to an international Fly-Thru destination. For certain passengers, AirAsia will offer pre-boarding assistance regardless of whether the parent or guardian has asked for it or not.
