Ethiopian Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Policy – Children between the ages of 5 and 11 can travel alone on domestic and international flights after booking the Unaccompanied Minor service, according to Ethiopian Airlines Unaccompanied Minor policy.

For an extra fee, codeshare flights need a Company Escort, sometimes known as cabin staff, while non-codeshare flights provide this service as an option.

Children between the ages of 12 and 17 can travel alone or schedule the Unaccompanied Minor service and pay the associated fee to travel as Unaccompanied Minors.

Ethiopian Airlines Unaccompanied Minors Age Restrictions

Ethiopian Airlines flights are subject to the following minor age restrictions:

• Children under the age of five who are traveling alone will not be allowed entry. An adult passenger is required to be accompanied by them.
• After paying an Unaccompanied Minors Service fee, children between the ages of 5 and 11 can travel alone on domestic and international flights.
  • To ensure the safety of the youngster throughout the journey, an Escort may be hired for an extra fee. Even if a separate airline operates a portion of the journey, the escort is still responsible for the child’s well-being and will return them to the designated adult at the destination airport.
  • For codeshare flights, the escort service is not required, but for direct flights, it is.
• It is optional to use the Unaccompanied Minor service for children aged 12–17. If they are traveling internationally on codeshare flights, it is necessary, nevertheless.

Note – Flights connecting to or from another airline do not offer the Ethiopian Airlines Unaccompanied Minor service. The parent or authorized legal guardian is responsible for making the required arrangements if an Unaccompanied Minor’s flight connects to another carrier.

Ethiopian Airlines’ Unaccompanied Minor Service: How to Book It

You need to do the following before you may buy a ticket for your kid:

• Dial + to reach Ethiopian Airlines (or your travel agency, the local office in your city/country, etc.).
• Form for an Unaccompanied Minor Request
• Get the paperwork done
• Please include full names and contact information for the person(s) who will be watching your child(ren) at the departure airport, any transfer locations, and the arrival airport when you fill out the form.
• Return the paperwork

Note – As long as your child is 12 years old or older, Ethiopian Airlines can assist you in making arrangements if you are unable to arrange for someone to meet your child at a transfer point and have not requested an Escort service.

The Unaccompanied Minor Form for Ethiopian Airlines

At the time of check-in for the flight, you, as the minor’s parent or legal guardian, are required by Ethiopian Airlines to provide two signed copies of the Unaccompanied Minor Form along with the following information:

• The minor’s complete name, age, and gender.
• Minor language.
• Please include the minor’s permanent address and phone number.
• Flight information for all minor’s flights.
• Details such as the following:
  • Individuals escorting the minor to the airport.
  • The adult who will be meeting the minor and releasing them at the designated rest stop.
  • Upon the minor’s arrival, the individual meeting them.

Escort Charges and Unaccompanied Minor Fees

Non-Codeshare International Routes

The following are the Unaccompanied Minor costs and Escort charges if your flight is conducted by Ethiopian Airlines:

• Between the ages of 5 and 11, for children
  • Paying for the Escort service is mandatory unless you decline:
    • An Unaccompanied Minor Fee (per way/child) of:
      • $100 (to/from Africa/Middle East),
      • $125 (to/from Europe),
      • $150 (to/from Asia), and
      • $175 (to/from North/Latin America)
    • In addition to the full adult airfare
• Between the ages of 12 and 17 for children
  • You must pay the full adult ticket if you do not want the Escort service.
  • Full adult airfare plus the Unaccompanied Minor service fee (as mentioned above) is required for the Unaccompanied Minor service.
  • The whole cost of the Unaccompanied Minor’s adult flight plus the Escort’s one-way adult airfare will be charged if you choose the Escort service.

The following costs will apply to international codeshare flights that are partially operated by another airline:

• You must pay: for children between the ages of 5 and 11
  • A one-way adult airfare for the Escort Service (required), a Service Charge:
    • An Unaccompanied Minor Fee (per way/child) of:
      • USD 100 (to/from Africa/Middle East),
      • USD 125 (to/from Europe),
      • USD 150 (to/from Asia), and
      • USD 175 (to/from North/Latin America).
• You must pay: for children between the ages of 12 and 17
  • The full adult cost, plus
  • An Unaccompanied Minor Service Fee (per way/child) of:
    • USD 100 (to/from Africa/Middle East),
    • USD 125 (to/from Europe),
    • USD 150 (to/from Asia), and
    • USD 175 (to/from North/Latin America).

Domestic Flights

The following costs apply to Unaccompanied Minors for domestic flights inside Ethiopia:

• Children between the ages of 5 and 11 must pay the following fees:
  • ETB 500 as an Unaccompanied Minor Fee per Sector,
  • The Applicable Child Fare,
  • The One-Way Adult Airfare for the Escort, and A Service Charge.
• Children aged 12 to 17 must pay
  • The full adult price in addition to
  • The ETB 500 Unaccompanied Minor fee for each sector.
