In the United States, children beyond the age of 11 are not permitted to use the unaccompanied minor service. Unaccompanied minors include only those between the ages of 5 and 11.

As per Iceland Air Unaccompanied Minor Policy, a child is considered a UM if they are between the ages of 5 and 11 and are not traveling with an adult who is at least 12 years old, has the same reservation status as the child, and can accept full responsibility for the child.

Booking an International flight

The responsible adult must wait for takeoff before leaving the airport. If you are traveling with an unaccompanied youngster on Iceland Air, you must wait at the airport for a minimum of 15 minutes per company regulations. Additionally –

  • Upon arrival at the destination airport, the airline crew will verify the identity of the guardian picking up the child.
  • A special Iceland Air wallet must be used to carry the Unaccompanied Minor’s travel documentation. The wallet is to be kept with the kid at all times.

  • A flight attendant would look after kids aged 5 to 11 during the flight.

Iceland Air charges a fee for unaccompanied minor services

Iceland Air unaccompanied minor policy states that if a refund is not possible due to fare limits, the full cost of the ticket must be paid.

For instance, if you cancel a non-refundable Iceland Airfare, you will not receive a refund of the unaccompanied minor fee. If you need to cancel your reservation, however, fares like Economy Flex are fully refundable.
